FILIP HERBOTS has passed away at the age of 79…
The founder of the professional carrier pigeon sport is no longer alive.
He knew everything about carrier pigeons – really everything. And this even in times without internet and social networks. The man who was probably never seen without a cigarette. It was his last wish before he fell asleep surrounded by his family to smoke a cigarette. But his first passion was good pigeons. His goal was always to get the national AS pigeons, national winners and even better the Olympic pigeons. However, not only for their own impact but also for the pigeon trade.
Filip was the first hub of the international pigeon trade. He was a passionate and tough businessman, but also a big patron of the pigeon sport. He has helped many young fanciers, donated thousands of pigeon vouchers and inspired and shaped the world of pigeon racing with his in-depth know-how.
Filip leaves a great legacy. His life's work is continued in his spirit by his children Miet, Jo and Raf.
Thank you Filip for everything you have created and rest in peace!
I personally lost a good friend.
