Weiterhin ist belegt, dass nach einer Fütterung mit diesen β-Glucanen eine erhöhte Alarmbereitschaft und somit eine bedeutend schnellere Immunantwort des Körpers erreicht werden kann. Diese ist bei Neuinfektionen, wie sie z.B. während des Korbaufenthaltes leicht möglich sind, wichtig. Ebenfalls ist es vor einer Impfung und in der gesamten Jungtierphase empfehlenswert, das Immunsystem über β-Glucane zu aktivieren, da deutlich mehr Antikörper gegen pathogene, also krankmachende Keime, gebildet werden. Weiterhin ist nach einer Fütterung dieser Stoffe die Phagozytose deutlich erhöht, also die Entsorgung krankmachender Keimen auf Zellebene. Dies rechtfertigt ebenfalls die Fütterung von Glucanen auch während und nach einem Infektionsausbruch.

In der Brieftaubenhaltung hat sich eine Kombination der BetaGlucane mit einer Mischung aus funktionellen Aromen bewährt. Eins davon ist das oft beschriebene Allicin, der aktive Wirkstoff des Knoblauchs, der aus der Vorstufe Alliin mithilfe des Enzyms Allinase gebildet wird. Leider ist Allicin nicht lange stabil und zerfällt z. B. in Flüssigkeiten wie dem Trinkwasser bei Raumtemperatur schon nach kurzer Zeit und ist dann unwirksam. Aufgrund dessen hat sich die technologische Behandlung des Knoblauchs mittels der Gefriertrocknung bewährt, da somit das stabile Alliin erhalten bleibt. Das nach der Fütterung aus dem Alliin gebildete Allicin wirkt dann im Zusammenspiel mit Zimt stark bakterizid gegen E. Coli und Salmonellen, schont aber gleichzeitig die positive Darmflora wie z. B. Laktobazillen. Für ein starkes Immunsystem setzen wir ferner auf die Fütterung von darmaktiver Pulvercellulose, die für eine Verlängerung der Darmzotten und damit für eine Vergrößerung des Darms und des gesamten Immunsystems sorgt.
