Und in der abgelaufenen Saison wäre vielleicht noch ein weiterer Spitzenplatz hinzugekommen, hätte es nicht das 4. Juliwochenende gegeben. Die Tiere wurden zum Endflug in Wels gestartet. Auf der Flugroute hatte sich am Samstagmorgen im Raum Nürnberg/Würzburg schon früh ein großes Regengebiet gebildet, bei dem man jedoch davon ausging, dass es bis zum Eintreffen der Tauben abgezogen sein würde. Stattdessen wurde es immer größer und rührte sich nicht von der Stelle. Das Ergebnis ist bekannt. Der Konkurs ging – nicht nur bei den Osnabrückern Sportfreunden – über zwei Tage und die Verluste waren hoch und für alle Sportfreunde sehr schmerzlich. 14 „Volle“ brachte Klaus an den Start und noch heute fehlen ihm davon acht Tiere, die bis dahin in 2018 zweistellige Preiszahlen oder einen Preis weniger vorweisen konnten.

Dennoch konnte unser Sportfreund nach 12 Touren mit seinen fünf besten Fliegern 60 Preise vorweisen, darunter einige „alte“ Bekannte. Da ist zunächst der 09710-15-26 zu nennen, ein absoluter Top-Flieger des Schlages. Das bewies er nicht nur als Jähriger mit 13×13 Preisen und 1.083,20 AP, sondern auch als Zweijähriger, als er 13×12 Preise mit 921,08 AP flog. In der abgelaufenen Saison war er bei 12 Einsätzen 12-mal erfolgreich und holte mit 4.456 Pkm 986 AP. Er war bereits bester jähriger Vogel von Westfalen und 1. As-Vogel im Regionalverband. Sein Vater ist der 102, ein Enkel des bekannten Titanen-Paares. Seine Mutter, die 09710-13-424, stammt aus der alten „Crack-75-Linie“ und flog selbst vier Erste. Ein weiterer Crack ist der 09710-14-106, ein Halbbruder zum o. a. 26, der väterlicherseits wieder der alten „Crack-75-Linie“ über den 09710-13-400 entstammt. Der 106 flog im Jahr 2017 13×13 Preise mit 1.075,60 As-Punkten und errang damit diverse Meisterschaften und wurde bester Altvogel im Regionalverband 256. Im Jahr 2018 schlug er bei 12 Einsätzen 12-mal zu und holte 748 AP. Genannt werden sollen noch der 9710-16-293 (12×12, 748 AP, 4.456 Pkm), der 9710-15-85 (12×12, 733 AP, 4.456 Pkm) und der 9710-16-254 (12×11, 848 AP, 3.835 Pkm). Zwei jährige Vögel sollen hier ebenfalls vorgestellt werden, denn sowohl der 9710-17-25 (11×11, 735 AP, 3.905 Pkm) als auch der 9710-17-66 (11×11, 710 AP, 3.905 Pkm) flogen „Full House“. Das schafften im Übrigen auch vier jährige Weibchen, nämlich die 81 (11×11, 794 AP, 3905 Pkm), die 57 (11×11, 779 AP), die 11 (11×11, 773 AP) und die 45 (11×11, 765 AP). Bei den überjährigen Weibchen waren es die 9710-16-202 (12×11, 960 AP, 3.835 Pkm) und die 9710-14-153 (12×11, 728 AP, 4.049 Pkm), die zu den zahlreichen errungenen Meisterschaften ihr Scherflein beitrugen. Letztere ist keine Unbekannte, denn sie flog als Jungtaube 6×5 Preise, als Jährige 13×12 Preise (1.040 AP) und 2017 13×13 Preise.

Dieses Gemisch entzieht den anfallenden Exkrementen die Feuchtigkeit. Ca. 20 % des Schlagbodens sind mit Stroh ausgelegt. In dieses Gemisch hinein wird gefüttert. Vor dem 1. Preisflug wird das Holz-Granulat-Gemisch entfernt und der Schlagboden ab diesem Zeitpunkt täglich gesäubert. Mit dieser Methode hat unser Sportfreund es geschafft, dass er seit drei Jahren von der Jungtaubenkrankheit verschont geblieben ist. Gefüttert werden die Grundmischung und Relax im Verhältnis 2:1.
