Futterreste
What these breeders often forget, however, is that during moulting the foundation for prices for the coming year is laid. Excellent plumage will show its effect during flights. A plumage that is not optimal inhibits the pigeons in their suppleness. Now that pigeon racing has become a top sport, it's the little things like that that can make all the difference.
Supply
There are many roads that lead to Rome when it comes to caring for pigeons during moulting. The starting point should be that sufficient sulfur-containing amino acids are provided. But not only that. During the moult, the liver works with high tension. In order for the new springs to be optimal, so much new building material must be produced. In addition, a lot of waste is produced. These waste products must therefore be removed from the liver and kidneys. Optimizing these organs for moulting is therefore not an unnecessary luxury.
Paratyphoid
House, garden and kitchen diseases such as trichomoniasis, coccidiosis and worms (and of course respiratory diseases and paratyphoid) should not have a chance during the moult. Due to the weakening during moulting from the exertion of the body, a latent outbreak of paratyphoid sometimes lurks. Autumn is the season when we see a lot of paratyphoid. This is due to the moult, but also because the inhibiting effect of the various disinfectants administered during the racing season then disappears.

In my own loft I give the pigeons a 10 to 14 day cure with Bony Usneano Plus before moulting. Both the trichomonas and the coccidia do not like this product. Their number therefore decreases rapidly in a natural way without medication. The pigeons then receive Bony Basis-T. I must confess that due to time constraints I am not a maker of moult seeds, although it is a very good method to support the liver and kidneys. Also give this over 10 days. Then the Bony Bonichol with Bony Mauser Vitamin. All year round our pigeons get this at least three days a week.

Many breeders are still addicted to a paratyphoid cure after moulting. Assume that by no means all remedies work well against paratyphoid. Instead of helping, resistance can make problems worse. We therefore recommend Bony PreviSal to give a remedy with notable success for a month. A natural remedy to help normal gut bacteria thrive and paratyphoid bacteria in check.
Good luck!
