Rik has been retired for two years and feels like a king among his feathered friends. He still prefers playing with females and masters this like no other. Rik has specialized in heavy medium-distance flights, where the pigeons cover distances of 400 to 600 kilometers. It is always a pleasure for Rik and his wife Mieke to see the pigeons arrive. They don't breed many pigeons, but always take a carefully selected group of pigeons, preferably well-rested ones, with them. In this way, they give themselves and the pigeons longer enjoyment, and the better pigeons can take part in the races for several years.

Rik Cools' connection to the Röhnfried products came about through his teacher and pigeon supplier Gaby Vandenabeele, with whom he often bred together. This proved beneficial for both strokes.

What are your favorite Röhnfried products?

“The pigeons find my favorite combination of Bt-Amin forte and Mumm in their drinking water when they come home from their flights. This means they recover particularly quickly and are already building up reserves for the next flights. In hot weather the pigeons receive additional electrolytes, depending on my experience, which are provided by either Avipharm or Elektrolyt3Plus.

In the following days they receive Avidress Plus, which protects the pigeons from various infections and keeps them healthy in a simple way. This also has a positive effect on intestinal health. Once the pigeons get used to it, they drink it without any problems. I use Avidress all year round in the breeding loft. On the following days, they alternately receive Gervit-W for one week and Bt-Amin forte (B vitamins and amino acid complex) for the other week. The day before the pigeons are released they always get into lightning shape, sometimes even for a whole week. The addition of iodine can sometimes work wonders, giving pigeons beautiful pink breast flesh and white noses. In recent years I have also been Carni-Speeding my females daily, resulting in faster recovery and more top prizes.”
