Increasing natural resistance

I believe that this should be the basis for solving a problem. Ultimately, the use of medication must be viewed as a necessary evil.
By not neglecting hygiene on the one hand and not exaggerating on the other, you contribute to increasing resistance by reducing the pressure of infection. If we also avoid stress, the pigeon's body also has a better chance of building greater resistance.
But by ensuring that the intestinal flora of the (young) pigeons improves, it turns out that resistance is also stimulated. Improving the intestinal flora prevents harmful intestinal bacteria from multiplying explosively in adeno-coli syndrome. Since the coli bacteria are less able to multiply in this case, the young animals can recover more quickly from the viral infection.
But if you want to achieve this, you have to act preventively. This method only works to a very limited extent once the full extent of the infection has been reached.
In such cases, one is often forced to resort to medication, as already mentioned.

Good digestion is important for the pigeon to have good general resistance. If you can ensure that the pigeons have good intestinal flora, you are already on the right track. Of course, it is not the case that a pigeon with good intestinal flora can never get sick. However, the fact is that these pigeons can overcome infections more easily due to their better resistance.
A pigeon with a healthy intestinal flora has better feed conversion. The vitamin balance is better. The absorption of building materials will be better. In short, the pigeon can get into good condition more easily.
And recently it has become increasingly clear that healthy intestinal flora makes it more difficult for harmful bacteria to develop.
In this way, infections with these bacteria are generally less serious.

Acidifying the pigeons' drinking water with apple cider vinegar, Bony SGR, Bony Bio Boost, Bony Bio Complete, etc. facilitates the proliferation of good intestinal bacteria.
In this way you make a valuable contribution to healthy intestinal flora. Caution is advised if drinking water becomes too acidic. The acidity can then become so low that the good intestinal bacteria also have difficulty developing properly.

A lot has also been written about vitamins and resistance. I would like to question the old statement that a pigeon must be able to absorb sufficient vitamins from its food. Of course I agree with that.
Through a good diet, a pigeon can obtain enough vitamins and building blocks to remain healthy under normal circumstances. But that's the problem. After all, pigeon racing is a top sport. And that demands more from the body than under normal circumstances. The chain of health and resilience is as strong as the weakest link. Even if you do your best to provide the pigeons with the best possible care, their health collapses like a house of cards when there is a relative or absolute lack of vital building materials.

I therefore believe that once pigeons are more advanced, they will do better if they receive a good vitamin supplement on a regular basis. Either through food or through drinking water. This additional vitamin administration optimizes the enzyme systems in the body. In this way you help improve resistance.
A vitamin that has proven itself in practice is Farvisol. This is a vitamin preparation with a high proportion of vitamins and trace elements.

Some rules of thumb for good resistance and a good foundation for building form:

  1. Avoid stress. In this context, it is important to prevent overcrowding.
  2. Ensure that the infection pressure of the most important pigeon diseases remains low through good basic hygiene.
  3. Optimizing enzyme systems by providing high quality nutrition and good vitamins.
  4. Improve metabolism by ensuring that the intestinal flora is in optimal condition.
As mentioned, you can help by regularly providing acidified drinking water.
(Apple Cider Vinegar, Phytovitality, Resistance Drink)
  5. Regularly check the pigeons' droppings and throats for parasitic infections.

Much luck !
