Jacob and Antje Poortvliet from the blows of the old racing pigeons

The beginning

Jacob Poortvliet wurde 1958 im niederländischen Emmeloord geboren. Im Jahr 1980 heiratete er Antje und zusammen haben sie zwei Töchter. Nachdem sie 20 Jahre in Wolvega lebten sind sie im Jahr 2002 in das sehr beschauliche friesische Surhuizum gezogen und kauften das Haus von Gea und Pieter Veenstra, die heute 5 km entfernt ihren Wohnsitz haben. Vater Leen Poortvliet hat praktisch sein ganzes Leben Brieftauben gezüchtet und so war es nicht verwunderlich, dass auch Jacob im Jahr 1969 sein erstes Interesse zeigte. Er hatte die ersten eigenen Jungtauben jedoch im Schlag des Vaters. Auf der neuen Schlaganlage in Surhuizum wurde sofort sehr stark gespielt. Im Jahr 2007 hatte Jacob bereits die ersten grossen nationalen Erfolge mit der 1. Nationalen AS-Jungtaube NPO, 1. National Champion Eintagesweitstrecke Fondspiegel, 1. Nationale Kurzstreckentaube WENC (NL), 1. Internationale Kurzstreckentaube WENC (West-Europe) , 2. Allgemeiner provinzialer Meister (unbenannte), 3. Provinzialer Meister (benannte) , 3. Weltmeister kleine Mittelstrecke.

And then in 2008

On the night of 4 to 5 January 77 pigeons were stolen, including 30 breeding pigeons. It was very hard but Jacob was glad that no pigeon racing team was stolen and he concentrated fully on the travel season in 2008. It was the best year ever. He won the National Championship Middle Distance NPO, the Golden Dove of the magazine "De Duif" for the Netherlands, the 1.General provincial championship, the 1st NPO (National) St. Quentin (423 km) against 13,472 pigeons, 3rd Olympiad pigeon Allround Holland Olympiad Dortmund of 2009.

 

Almost the end

In 2004, the doctors diagnosed at Jacob an asthmatic bronchitis and emphysema presented in 2009 out. The disease caused a double lung transplant. Although the pigeons were not the cause of this condition, it was no longer possible for Jacob to feed the pigeons. However, an utter abandonment of the beloved pigeon sport was not for his wife Antje in question. They took over the helm and the supply - largely to this day. She is supported by friend Henk Hoekstra, who has assumed the blow cleaning. Jacob is now the "Manager" responsible for feeding, mating and Administration.

 

Although the stock because Jacobs disease through an auction at "De Duif" has been considerably reduced in 2009 and all successful old breeders were sold went Poortvliet success story thanks to the excellent base and the targeted supplements continue unrestricted.

 

Success without end
