Like many pigeon fanciers, Jan Keen was infected with the pigeon bacillus at a young age. With Jan, this happened through some fancy pigeons that were given as gifts and that were given a hostel on the farm by their father. The fancy pigeons got company from a stray ringed pigeon. The number of pigeons increased and Jan got permission from his father to cut off part of the hen house for the pigeons. It could start. In 1974 he moved to Ter Apel, his current place of residence, which is on the border with Germany, where he continued to practice pigeon racing.

Jan has always made his prices well. In 1995, however, the basis for today's success was laid. That year, on the advice of Staf Theeuwes, he brought pigeons from Louis Van Loon (Poppel, BE). These pigeons were a hit and from then on his performance skyrocketed. In addition to the Van Loon pigeons, other pigeons were successfully introduced, namely by Pol Bostijn (Moorslede, BE), Günter Prange (Meppen, DE), F. & K. Mariën (Tielen, BE), as well as some strong breeders from the area. A breeding loft that overflows with class. It would be going way too far if we were to list all of his great results here. With NPO victories, various ace pigeons and countless victories against thousands of pigeons, Jan became a leading fancier and a household name in the Dutch pigeon sport.

In 1995 Jan turned his hobby into a profession and founded a pet shop with, of course, pigeon sport articles as a specialty. So it is only logical that in 1998 he developed his own mixture in collaboration with BEYERS: BEYERS Premium Jan Keen Superlight.

This mixture is characterized by its large variety of grains and seeds with a high nutritional value, which are easily digestible and which can be fed as an all-round basic mixture during the travel season on both short, medium and long haul flights as well as overnight flights.
